KIPCO International, INC.  IS PLEASED TO OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING BEAD ROLLING SYSTEM:  

 

ONE UNIT TO PROVIDE WELD BEAD ROLLING WITH THE FOLLOWING PROCESS:         

 

1.      STARTING POINT:  THE ROLLING UNIT IS UP AND  THE MANDREL IS UNDER THE ROLL.

2.      ENGAGEMENT:  THE ROLL MOVES DOWN TO THE TUBE AND PRESSES THE WELD BEAD BETWEEN ITSELF AND THE MANDREL.

3.      ROLLING:  THE MANDREL MOVES THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE TUBE, WHILE THE CARRIAGE MOVES IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WITH THE ROLL CLOSED ON THE TUBE.

4.      DISENGAGEMENT:  THE ROLL MOVES UP TO THE START POINT, ALLOWING THE MANDREL TO MOVE FREELY.

5.      RESET:  THE MANDREL MOVES BACK TO THE STARTING POINT AND ROTATES, WHILE THE CARRIAGE MOVES BACK TO ITS STARTING POINT.

 

 

SIZE RANGE 16.8 mm TO 114.3 mm OD

 

 THE MINIMUM WALL THICKNESS IS .397 mm UP TO 10.2 mm MAXIMUM.

 

THE SPEEDS WHICH ARE OBTAINABLE ARE 28 TO 30 CYCLES PER MINUTE AT UP TO 8.5 METERS PER MINUTE ON 1 mm  THICK MATERIAL.

 

THE SYSTEM ITSELF CONSISTS OF THREE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS.

 

1.  THE MANDREL:  THIS COMPONENT IS CONSTRUCTED OF HARDENED STEEL (about 62 RC), WITH AMPCO BRONZE INSERTS AT THE END.  THE MANDREL ROTATES DURING THE BACKSTROKE ASSURING HOMOGENOUS WEAR OF THE CONTACT MATERIAL.  ROTATION IS DETERMINED BY AN ADJUSTABLE CYCLE.

 

MANDREL LIFE ON COLD ROLLED MATERIAL CAN BE UP TO:

 

11,000 TO 17,000 METERS FOR 3 mm WALL THICKNESS

40,000 TO 50, 000 METERS FOR 1 mm WALL THICKNESS

 

THESE NUMBERS WILL BE LESS FOR HOT ROLLED MATERIAL.

 

ONCE THE MANDREL HAS SURPASSED ITS USEFUL LIFE, IT CAN BE REGROUND FOR USE ON A DIFFERENT OD OR GAUGE.

 

2.      MANDREL SUPPORT:  THE SUPPORT IS PLACED ON THE MILL BEFORE THE FINNED PASSES AND USES A CABLE) OR A RIGID TUBE TO SUPPORT THE MANDREL.  AN ELECTRIC MOTOR ON THE UNIT ROTATES THE MANDREL AND A HYDRAULIC CYLINDER MOVES THE MANDREL FORWARD AND BACKWARD.

 

THE UNIT IS CONSTRUCTED OF A PANTOGRAPHED, ELECTROWELDED, AND MACHINED STEEL FRAME HOLDING A STEEL BOOM HINGED TO THE CARRIAGE FOR A 90-DEGREE RELEASE.  IT IS SUPPLIED WITH A 1 HP MOTOR CONNECTED TO 1/100 GEAR REDUCER WITH CHAIN DRIVE FOR ROTATION.

 

3.      ROLLING CARRIAGE:  THE ROLLING CARRIAGE ACTS AS THE ACTUAL ROLLING MECHANISM AND CONTAINS BOTH A BOTTOM AND TOP ROLL.  THE BOTTOM ROLL IS THE SAME DIAMETER AS THE TUBE AND ACTS AS A SUPPORT BASE FOR THE TUBE.  THE UPPER ROLL IS LARGER THAN THE TUBE DIAMETER AND MOVES UP AND DOWN AS REQUIRED BY THE PROCESS.  CARRIAGE TRAVEL AND TOP ROLL PRESSURE ARE ADJUSTABLE TO MEET THE DESIRES OF THE CUSTOMER.  IF THE WELD SEAM IS NOT ON TOP OF THE TUBE, THE UNIT IS ADJUSTABLE 15 DEGREES FROM THE TOP IN EITHER DIRECTION TO APPLY PRESSURE WHERE NEEDED.

 

THE UNIT IS CONSTRUCTED OF A PANTOGRAPHED AND ELECTROWELDED STEEL FRAME WITH HARDENED AND TEMPERED SLIDE PLATES.  IT IS SUPPORTED BY AXIAL BEARINGS.  THE CARRIAGE ITSELF RIDES ON HARDENED AND GROUND GUIDES WITH AXIAL BEARINGS TO REDUCE FRICTION.

 

ALL OPERATIONS OF THE ROLLING CARRIAGE ARE DRIVEN BY HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS, ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BY PROPORTIONAL VALVES, GUIDED BY A PLC WITH CONSTANT SEQUENCES PERMITTING SOFT AND REGULAR TRAVEL.

 

 

 

THE ENTIRE SYSTEM INCLUDES AN ELECTRIC CONTROL PANEL WITH REMOTE CONTROL SWITCHES FOR THE MAIN MOTOR AND ID ROTATION.  ALL OPERATIONS ARE CONTROLLED BY A PLC. THE SYSTEM INCLUDES A 178 LITER COOLING WATER SYSTEM WITH A RADIATOR AND FORCED VENTILATION TO PROVIDE HYDRAULIC OIL COOLING.  TWO HYDRAULIC PUMPS WITH A VARIABLE CAPACITY OF 19 TO 39 LITERS PROVIDING 183 K/sq cm PRESSURE ARE OPERATED BY AN ELECTRONIC CARD SYSTEM WITH A POWER REGULATING CONTROL. THE SYSTEM CONTROL VOLTAGE IS 24V DC.

 

 

ONE SET OF ROLLS AND ONE MANDREL WILL BE SUPPLIED WITH THE MACHINE.  RECOMMENDED SPARES FOR THE UNIT ARE ONE MANDREL FOR EACH GAGE AND TUBE OD TO BE MANUFACTURED, AND ONE SET OF ROLLS FOR EACH SIZE MANUFACTURED.
